GTA 6: Leak Points to 210 GB PS5 Install Size as Marketing Campaign Reaches New York and São Paulo

Rumor. Not officially confirmed yet. It may change before launch.

The file size of Grand Theft Auto VI and the expansion of its marketing campaign are among the topics drawing attention ahead of Rockstar Games’ next major release. An alleged leak attributed to PlayStation Game Size suggests that the PlayStation 5 version could require 210 GB of storage. However, the figure has yet to be officially confirmed.

Preloading begins on November 12, one week before the game’s release on November 19, 2026, as Rockstar Games confirmed when it opened pre-orders in June. The reported file size, however, has not been confirmed by Rockstar or Sony and should be treated as unverified information.

Storage Could Be a Challenge for Console Owners

If the reported 210 GB figure proves accurate, GTA 6 would take up a significant portion of the PlayStation 5’s available SSD space. The original PS5 model offers approximately 667 GB of usable storage, meaning the game would account for roughly 31% of that capacity.

The situation could also raise concerns among Xbox Series S owners. The 512 GB model provides approximately 364 GB of usable storage after accounting for the space reserved for the operating system and other system features.

If the Series S version requires a similar amount of storage to the alleged PS5 build, players may need to free up space before installing the game. However, no confirmed figures are available for the Xbox versions.

Differences in resolution, texture quality and other technical features can affect a game's final installation size across platforms. Without official specifications, however, it is impossible to determine how much space the Series S version will require or whether it will be significantly smaller than the PS5 edition.

Players who plan to keep a large library of games installed may want to monitor Rockstar's storage requirements as the release date approaches.

Marketing Campaign Draws Attention in Major Cities

Beyond speculation about technical requirements, Grand Theft Auto VI is also attracting attention for its reported presence in high-profile advertising locations.

Reports of promotional displays and billboards in New York and São Paulo suggest a potential expansion of the game's marketing campaign into major urban centers. Times Square, one of the most recognizable advertising locations in the United States, offers brands an opportunity to reach a broad international audience.

However, claims about specific GTA 6 advertisements at these locations should be supported by verifiable images or official statements before being presented as confirmed developments.

If verified, physical advertising would complement the game's online promotion and extend its visibility beyond digital platforms. For a major entertainment release, combining outdoor advertising with social media and other promotional channels can help maintain public interest in the weeks leading up to launch.

With the expected November release approaching, the game's installation size, platform-specific technical details and the scope of its marketing campaign remain key points of interest. Until official announcements provide further details, unconfirmed figures and reports should be treated with caution.

Correction (October 29, 2026): an earlier version of this article described the November 12 preload date as unconfirmed. Rockstar Games announced it on June 24, 2026, when GTA VI pre-orders opened.

Context

The 210 GB figure comes from PlayStation Game Size, an X account that posts the install sizes of games before release. Rockstar and Sony have not confirmed it. It is in line with an earlier claim by leaker CyberLeek of a playable build of "200+ GB" (Notebookcheck).

The preload date is official: Rockstar's pre-order announcement on June 24 said digital buyers can preload from November 12, and the boxed edition, which contains a download code instead of a disc, also unlocks on that day. In practice, almost everyone will download the full game.

What we know

  • Preloading opens on November 12 and the game launches on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
  • A standard PS5 has about 667 GB of usable space, so 210 GB would take almost a third of it. The PS5 Pro has a 2 TB drive.
  • The 512 GB Xbox Series S has about 364 GB of usable space. No size has been reported for any Xbox version.
  • On the marketing side, fan accounts have shared photos of GTA VI billboards in Times Square, in New York, and Portal Viciados posted what appear to be the first GTA VI ads in Brazil. Rockstar has not announced a campaign in either city.

What we don't know yet

  • The final size. A day-one patch, which Rockstar has not announced, could change it.
  • How big the Xbox Series X|S versions will be, and whether the Series S version will be smaller.
  • Where exactly the São Paulo ads are and who paid for them: the only source so far is a fan account's post.

VICEVERSA's take

Even if the 210 GB figure moves a little, plan for it now. On a launch PS5 with a few big games installed, there may not be enough room, and the preload on November 12 is the moment you will find out. Clearing space this week, or using an expansion drive, avoids a race on launch night.

The São Paulo ads matter for Brazilian readers: Rockstar's physical campaign has so far been concentrated in US cities, so a confirmed presence in Brazil would be a first. Until a photo with a location or an official statement appears, it stays in the unconfirmed column.
