Rockstar Sends GTA VI Promotional Kits to Content Creators

Rockstar Sends GTA VI Promotional Kits to Content Creators

On September 30, content creators specializing in video games began sharing images and videos of promotional boxes linked to Grand Theft Auto VI. The packages, sent by Rockstar Games, drew attention on social media for featuring merchandise inspired by the visual identity of the upcoming installment in the franchise.

Among the creators who showcased the items are YouTubers TmarTn and Hollow, who posted videos presenting the contents of their packages. The footage reveals accessories and clothing featuring references to Vice City and the world of GTA VI.

What's Inside the Boxes?

The kits contain a selection of promotional merchandise featuring visual elements associated with the game. Items shown in the videos include:

  • Themed T-shirt: A shirt featuring a postcard-inspired design with the phrase "Greetings from Vice City."

  • GTA VI Zippo lighter: A metal accessory featuring references to GTA VI and Vice City.

  • Commemorative cap: A blue cap displaying Rockstar Games branding.

  • Themed tote bag: A fabric bag featuring graphics associated with the game.

  • Stickers: A collection of logos, symbols, and other visual elements connected to the franchise.

The selection combines everyday accessories with references to the game's fictional setting, reflecting the visual identity Rockstar has used to promote GTA VI.

References to Vice City and Leonida

The inclusion of Vice City-themed merchandise reinforces the connection between the promotional kits and the setting of Grand Theft Auto VI. The upcoming game takes place in the fictional state of Leonida, inspired by Florida, and brings players back to Vice City, one of the franchise's most recognizable locations.

The beach-inspired designs and vibrant colors also reflect the setting presented in the game's promotional materials. Items such as T-shirts, caps, and accessories extend the game's branding beyond official trailers and announcements.

A Marketing Strategy Built Around Social Media

Sending promotional merchandise to content creators can help expand the reach of a marketing campaign. By showcasing the packages in videos and social media posts, recipients introduce the products to audiences interested in gaming news, franchise updates, and upcoming releases.

Unboxing videos also give fans a closer look at the promotional merchandise associated with the game. However, the distribution of these kits does not, by itself, confirm that another trailer, pre-orders, or new gameplay details will be announced soon.

For now, the packages provide another way to keep Grand Theft Auto VI in the spotlight among players. Any further announcements about the game's release or upcoming promotional materials will depend on official updates from Rockstar Games.

Correction (October 27, 2026): an earlier version of this article did not say when the packages appeared. The first unboxings were posted on September 30, 2026.

Context

The boxes started appearing on September 30, when TmarTn and HollowPoiint opened theirs on camera. TmarTn said his arrived by overnight courier, with no email or warning. TheRadBrad, KYR SP33DY and xQc also showed packages, and Kotaku's Zack Zwiezen received one as thanks for a decade of GTA coverage (Keengamer, WikiGTAVI).

They landed in the middle of a debate about Rockstar's own merchandise. The Vice City Collection box costs $399.99 and contains no copy of the game, and many fans said on social media that they would rather have the free creator box (Notebookcheck).

What we know

  • TmarTn's box had a blue Goodtime State T-shirt, a blue and pink cap, a VI tote bag, an engraved GTA VI Zippo lighter and holographic stickers. Other boxes included a "Greetings from Vice City" T-shirt and a black Rockstar cap.
  • The kits are not for sale. GTA BOOM describes them as creator PR items.
  • Similar products appeared in about 55 unannounced listings that GTAVice found in the Rockstar Store's public API in late September, so some items may go on sale later.
  • The only official GTA VI apparel on sale so far is the Miami Heat Vice City collection, launched on October 2 and sold outside Rockstar's store (WikiGTAVI).

What we don't know yet

  • Whether, when and at what price the Rockstar Store will sell these items.
  • How many creators received boxes, and whether a second wave will go out closer to launch.

VICEVERSA's take

Seeding creators with merchandise is standard practice, and it worked: the unboxings reached millions of viewers without a single new trailer. The details are also a preview of the store, since the items match products already listed in Rockstar's systems.

The useful news for readers will be the day those products go on sale. Until then, the creator box is the only way to get them, and it is not available to buy.
