Rockstar Games appears to be entering the final stages of development on Grand Theft Auto VI. During a visit to the studio in late September, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier reported on the team's progress, offering a glimpse into how the highly anticipated game is taking shape ahead of its planned November 19 release.

One of the clearest signs of progress can be seen on monitors throughout the studio. They display a color-coded overview of the game's bugs, with red blocks representing unresolved issues and green ones indicating problems that have been fixed. According to the report, the balance has been shifting in the right direction, suggesting that developers are resolving issues faster than new ones are being identified.

That doesn't mean development is entirely finished. Co-director Phil Hooker noted that a project of this scale continues to evolve even during its final months. Small adjustments and refinements are still being made as the team works to ensure the game is ready for release.

The reported progress is only part of the story. Rockstar has also been trying to move away from the demanding work culture associated with some of its earlier productions. During the development of Red Dead Redemption 2, reports of weeks exceeding 60 working hours drew attention to the industry's reliance on so-called crunch — periods of intense overtime before a game's release.

The current approach appears to be different. Employees are required to work from the office five days a week, a policy reportedly intended in part to strengthen security and reduce the risk of leaks. Even with that requirement, the studio is seeking to manage workloads without returning to the excessive hours that have drawn criticism in the past.

For fans, the steady progress on bug fixes is encouraging, although it doesn't guarantee that the release schedule will remain unchanged. Rockstar is still targeting November 19 for GTA VI, and the coming weeks will be crucial as the team works through the remaining issues and prepares the game for launch.

If the first trailer gave us a taste of the chaos in the state of Leonida, this new footage shines the spotlight directly on Jason and Lucia's past…

If the first trailer gave us a taste of the chaos in the state of Leonida, this new footage shines the spotlight directly on Jason and Lucia's past, confirming details that position the title as a clear favorite for Game of the Year. Below, we break down the trailer's main highlights.

Jason's Dark Past and the Couple's Dynamic

One of the biggest reveals in the video is the deepening of Jason's backstory, which until now was a greater mystery than Lucia's. Right at the beginning of the trailer, we hear a monologue from the character explaining what pushed him into a life of crime: "I got into some trouble in the military. Didn't leave there on the best of terms. They don't give loans or anything like that to guys like me." Never-before-seen footage shows him working at a marina for a character named Brian, polishing boats before receiving a call from Lucia—possibly the moment he is summoned to pick her up from prison.

The duo's relationship gains new layers of depth. The trailer showcases moments of tension and intimacy, including a romantic scene in the shower, proving that mutual trust will be the core of the narrative. In an emblematic dialogue, Lucia asks, "Is everything going to be alright?" to which a protective Jason replies, "We got through everything together. We just need to get through this."

Graphical Leap and the Impressive "Sweat System"

The video makes a point to display a "captured on PS5" disclaimer, and the level of detail justifies the current-generation console exclusivity. The graphics engine's photorealism is pushed to the limit, visible in the confirmation of the rumored new "sweat system." In one scene, an NPC is shown working out intensely, and the dynamically dripping sweat highlights Rockstar's meticulous attention to detail.

Alongside the high-speed pursuits and frantic shootouts traditional to the franchise, the trailer features gorgeous landscapes ranging from murky swamps to the contemporary neon lights of a reimagined Vice City.

Heavyweight Soundtrack: Justice, Tame Impala, and SZA

Rockstar's musical curation strikes again. The trailer's rhythm is dictated by the unreleased track "Flower in a Hurricane," produced by the acclaimed French electronic duo Justice, featuring colossal guest appearances by Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

The partnership goes beyond marketing: the developer confirmed that Justice is composing the original score for the entire game. The track is part of Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, a record featuring 34 original songs that is already available for pre-order on physical vinyl and CD editions.

Imminent Launch and The Game Awards 2026

We are in the endgame. With the premiere locked in for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, players who secured the digital version will be able to start pre-loading data on November 12. Unfortunately for computer players, a PC release date remains unannounced.

One detail that stirred the industry was the strategic release window: November 19 allows GTA 6 to compete for the coveted Game of the Year (GOTY) statuette at The Game Awards 2026, whose eligibility rules cover titles released up until November 20.

As Rob Nelson, co-head of Rockstar North, put it: "The game is so big I don't know if there is anyone on the team who knows everything." If the launch trailer is an accurate indicator of the final experience, Rockstar is about to break every record in the industry. Once again.

The Launch Trailer: Jason's Past and PS5 Action

Released today, the new 1-minute and 30-second launch trailer focuses on Jason and Lucia's narrative. The video reveals details about Jason's troubled past, seemingly leaving the military under difficult circumstances, and features an intense shower scene with Lucia, who is seen wearing her now-iconic ankle monitor.

Instead of focusing purely on gameplay, the trailer highlights the cinematic action players will experience in the vast open world. Rockstar also emphasized its partnership with Sony, confirming the footage was "captured on PS5" and reinforcing the message that the game "plays best on PS5."

The Map Returns: A Physical Media Bonus

For the nostalgics and collectors out there, excellent news has surfaced from GameStop stores. Even as the industry shifts heavily toward digital formats, leaked promotional posters from a GameStop in Pennsylvania indicate that the "physical media" copies of GTA 6 (which will actually contain digital codes in the box) will include a "physical collector's map."

Rockstar has a long-standing tradition of including printed city maps in their physical game editions, and it seems this custom will survive the digital age. Those who purchase this version at physical retail stores will also be able to pick up the box early on November 12, just in time to preload the game for the big launch on November 19.

Rockstar's Future: The End of 8-Year Waits

If the more than decade-long wait since GTA V (or the 8 years since Red Dead Redemption 2) tested fans' patience, Rockstar has a reassuring message: this shouldn't happen again.

In recent interviews, Rockstar executives confirmed that the company's next major game will not take 8 years to make. The reason? All the technological advancements, new creation tools, and the modernized graphics engine built specifically for the ambitions of GTA 6 will allow the team to work much faster moving forward. With a workforce that has more than doubled since the release of RDR2—surpassing 4,000 developers—the company's infrastructure has never been more robust.

With only 34 days left until we return to Vice City, the expectation is that GTA 6 will not only redefine the current industry standard but also pave the way for Rockstar's next blockbusters to reach our hands much sooner.

What the Behind-the-Scenes Sources Say

The information has caught the spotlight in international media. As reported by the portal GamesBeat, which reached out to four anonymous insider sources familiar with the studio's plans, Rockstar projects releasing GTA 6 for PC as early as the first quarter (Q1) of 2027.

The game has its official release confirmed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026. If the rumors hold true, PC players would only need to wait a few months to get their hands on the game. This is a significantly shorter timeframe compared to GTA 5, which took about a year and a half to reach computers after its original launch.

The Artificial Intelligence Factor and Fan Pressure

With the help of Artificial Intelligence tools that facilitate the game conversion and emulation process, the work of the modding community has become much more agile. Many believe that the developer accelerated the production of the computer version to avoid an embarrassing (or "funny," as the publication puts it) scenario where fans would manage to unofficially port the title before the company's own release.

This fear gains traction in recent discussions on specialized forums, where players point out that potential security flaws in consoles or leaks (such as those from the infamous leaker known as CyberLeek) could allow the game to be quickly "dumped" and emulated on PCs right at launch. By shortening the window between versions, Rockstar would mitigate the risk of emulated piracy and secure official sales on the platform.

Next Steps

So far, neither Rockstar Games nor its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, have officially commented on the reports regarding the PC version. Fans are left to wait for the initial console launch in late 2026 to find out if the trip to Vice City via keyboard and mouse will indeed arrive early.

Innovation: Earbuds and On-Foot Podcasts

One of the most highly praised mechanical additions revealed in this update is how we consume audio in the game. In GTA 6, players won't need to be inside a car to enjoy the soundtrack. Rockstar confirmed that Lucia and Jason will be able to use earbuds connected to their smartphones to listen to radio stations and the game's various new podcasts while exploring the world on foot.

This Thursday (October 8, 2026), the individual responsible for the recent massive Grand Theft Auto VI leaks published a new video featuring nearly 25 minutes of gameplay. Ironically dubbed "GTA 6: Extended Leek", the material is a direct provocation to Rockstar Games' recent official trailer ("An Extended Look") and brings some of the most detailed revelations about mechanics, the open world, and the controversial level of nudity in the highly anticipated title.

Rockstar Games has not yet officially commented on this new incident. Despite the enormous volume of leaked information and the impact on the team, the developer has maintained its original plans to release the game on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no changes to the date.

What the 25 Minutes of Gameplay Show

The released video focuses heavily on exploring Vice City and side activities, confirming the functionality of systems highly anticipated by the community.

Off-Road Racing and the Thrillbilly Mud Club: Jason and Lucia are introduced to a club dedicated to mud events. The video shows Jason renting a Maibatsu Sanchez motorcycle for $250 to participate in a dirt race.

Return of the Midnight Club Style: A major highlight of the leak is the illegal nocturnal street racing (part of the "Hit N Run VC" mission series, linking Salton to Waning Sands). The footage displays checkpoint races using the first-person camera from the vehicle's cockpit.

Deep Vehicle Customization: The automotive tuning system seems to have been vastly expanded, now divided into tabs for "pro builds" (pre-tuned), cosmetics, and performance. The performance tab allows players to change the engine, intake, transmission, and add a nitrous system.

First-Person Camera: The video confirms the presence of a native first-person mode, covering both driving vehicles and walking around the map.

Emergent Encounters: The material illustrates an internal interaction system where Jason and Lucia meet organically across the map and seamlessly perform activities together, without relying on loading screens for missions.

Explicit Nudity and Realistic Physics

One of the aspects that generated the most surprise and discussion on forums was the presence of interactive, full-frontal nudity in the leaked build. Unlike previous titles where adult content was restricted to very specific contexts, Cyberleek demonstrated scenes without any kind of censorship.

The video shows Jason walking through the Monte Kalaga region completely naked, with the game's physics reacting dynamically to his body movements. Furthermore, full cutscenes were shown without restrictions, including a night scene where Lucia performs a base jump naked — recreating an angle seen in the official materials, but without clothes. The recording also features clips of Lucia wearing undergarments on a helipad and the sudden appearance of a tank, indicating that the leaker was using developer menus or cheat codes to access these features.

The Ongoing Threat of Cyberleek

Cyberleek's disappearance in recent weeks had raised expectations that authorities or Take-Two's private investigators had managed to identify him after issuing subpoenas to platforms like Discord. The sudden return and extensive publication prove that the attacker — who previously orchestrated attacks using only a hotel room, a TV, and an Amazon Fire Stick — remains unidentified and has direct access to an advanced build of the game.

Although Cyberleek attempts to frame his actions as a protest in favor of ending digital pre-orders, full offline access, and the defense of physical media, his financial motivation remains evident. Just like in the August attacks, the leak of this new batch of footage was used as a platform to promote a cryptocurrency (meme coin) controlled by the leaker, a scheme that has allegedly already earned him significant amounts of money at the expense of Rockstar's exposure.

What the Original Report Claimed

The discussion began after a report from The Verge claimed that Microsoft had struck an unprecedented deal to secure exclusive streaming rights for GTA 6 on Xbox Cloud Gaming.

This move would have opened a major loophole in the market: since Rockstar has not yet confirmed a native PC version of the game, cloud access would have allowed PC gamers to play the title on day one without needing to buy a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S.

Xbox's Clarification

Following the rapid spread of the news, Matthew Ball used his social media to classify The Verge's information as inaccurate. The executive was straightforward in clarifying two key points:

End of the exclusivity rumor: The game will not be streamed exclusively through the Xbox Cloud Gaming catalog.

PC is left out: The executive guaranteed that GTA 6 will not be available to play on PC via the cloud service.

This statement pours cold water on the PC gaming community, which saw xCloud as their main hope for enjoying the launch simultaneously with console players.

What Still Remains Open

Despite being categorical in dismissing the exclusivity and PC access, Ball's message was careful. He neither confirmed nor denied the possibility of GTA 6 coming to Xbox Cloud Gaming at launch for other devices (such as Smart TVs, mobile phones, and the consoles themselves).

This means the chance of the game joining Microsoft's cloud service from day one still exists—just not in the exclusive, PC-focused format that was initially reported.

Microsoft seems to have secured one of the biggest strategic advantages of the current console generation. According to information revealed by journalist Tom Warren from The Verge, the company has closed a major deal with Rockstar Games that guarantees the exclusive streaming rights for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) on Xbox Cloud Gaming (xCloud) right on its launch day.

In practice, this means that Microsoft's cloud service will initially be the only platform capable of running the game remotely. This move promises to cause a profound impact on the market, especially by opening the doors to a massive player base that would otherwise not have access to the new title because they do not own next-gen hardware.

The salvation for PC and the extended life of Xbox One

The streaming exclusivity on xCloud brings immediate relief to a very significant group: PC players. Maintaining its historical release pattern, Rockstar has not yet announced a native version of GTA 6 for computers, officially confirming the game only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. With this deal, PC owners will be able to play the title via the cloud, bypassing the absence of an official "port" at launch.

The news also becomes a huge asset for those who still own an Xbox One. The last-generation console does not have the firepower to run GTA 6 natively, but thanks to compatibility with Xbox Cloud Gaming, users will be able to stream the game directly from Microsoft's servers. This reach of the Xbox brand will also extend to compatible smartphones, tablets, and Smart TVs.

Changes to Xbox Cloud and the new "pay-per-use"

The leak of this deal is no coincidence and aligns with a vital restructuring phase of Microsoft's cloud service. The company is preparing major changes to Xbox Cloud Gaming starting in November, including a model that goes beyond the traditional Game Pass subscription.

In this new "pay-per-use" format, Microsoft will allow users who are not Game Pass subscribers to buy streaming hours to play titles from their own digital library. It is worth reinforcing a crucial detail: being available for streaming on xCloud does not mean that GTA 6 will be added for free to the Game Pass catalog. The most likely scenario is that players will need to purchase the game on the Microsoft store in order to stream it.

Rumors also indicate that Microsoft will start setting monthly cloud hour limits depending on the user's subscription tier (such as 15 hours per month for the Game Pass Ultimate plan). To binge-play a colossal game like GTA 6, the feature of purchasing additional hours will be a central pillar in this new platform economy.

What remains to be discovered?
Despite the strength of the sources heard by The Verge, some crucial commercial details remain confidential. The main one is the duration of this exclusivity window. It is unknown for how long Xbox Cloud Gaming will be the only place to stream the game before competitors (like GeForce Now or PlayStation's streaming) can enter the fray.

Another challenge Microsoft will need to face is infrastructure: supporting the massive server congestion at the launch of the most anticipated entertainment product of the decade.

Until there is an official announcement detailing how it works, players wait anxiously. If everything is confirmed, Microsoft will not only have leveraged Xbox console sales, but will have transformed virtually any internet-connected screen into a direct passport to Vice City.

In an exclusive interview with LOVE Magazine released today, the Rockstar North team opened up about the design philosophies and themes that will guide Grand Theft Auto VI. With a deep focus on the dynamic between protagonists Jason and Lucia, the studio indicated that the franchise's next iteration won't just aim to impress with its sheer scale, but will revolutionize how players interact with the world of Leonida.

The "American Dream" Deconstructed

If in previous titles players controlled cartel leaders, mobsters seeking glory, or bank robbers obsessed with unimaginable fortunes, the central duo in GTA VI has much more grounded ambitions.

The criminal life in Leonida isn't driven by a desire for ostentation and control of the underworld, but by the sheer need for survival. Jason and Lucia's goal is straightforward: clear their debts, achieve financial stability, and secure a home for their family. This deconstruction of the classic GTA "American Dream" promises to deliver a more intimate and relatable narrative arc.

The Perfectly Imperfect Dynamic

The magazine also delved into the protagonists' psyches, detailing how they complement each other through their contrasts:

Lucia: Making history as the franchise's first playable female protagonist with an active voice and storyline in 28 years, she is described as an unstoppable force. Determined and uncompromising, Lucia is the engine that drives the duo forward, refusing to let problems halt her pursuit of a better life.

Jason: Serving as the perfect counterweight, Jason has a much more reactive profile. His actions and choices are frequently shaped by the chaos, circumstances, and events happening around him.

Rockstar's writers emphasized that both were developed as highly human figures—vulnerable and deeply flawed. They aren't absolute heroes or villains, but people who are "sometimes right, sometimes wrong," and who will evolve by learning from each other throughout their journey.

Fun Always Above Realism

Another major point of debate among fans has always been the balance between GTA's classic arcade gameplay and the hyper-realism seen in Red Dead Redemption 2. Rob Nelson, Co-Head of Rockstar North, confirmed the new game's direction: fun dictates the rules.

The state of Leonida will be the stage for unpredictable events, chaos, humor, and classic biting American satire. Realism will be applied surgically, existing solely to amplify player immersion. If a highly realistic mechanic makes the experience tedious or less fluid, it will be scrapped in favor of gameplay and fun.

Despite prioritizing the playful aspect, the technical ambition for the open world remains unprecedented. The team made a bold promise regarding the map's inhabitants, stating that "nobody you meet is an extra." This statement points to a massive generational leap in artificial intelligence, suggesting that the streets of Leonida will be populated by NPCs with distinct purposes, routines, and reactions that will make the virtual world feel more alive than ever before.

According to producer Jun Takeuchi, the development team has been actively mapping out the exact moment when the saga's past and present will perfectly align. The executive has categorized this narrative convergence as a true internal "crossover" for the franchise.

Historically, the modern Resident Evil era has operated under a clear dual strategy:

The Present Timeline: Titles like Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil Village, and Resident Evil: Requiem focus on pushing the overarching story forward. These games introduce new threats, fresh protagonists like Ethan Winters, and the latest developments in modern bioterrorism.

The Past Timeline: The reimagined classics (Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 Remakes) serve not only to modernize gameplay but to tie up loose ends in the original lore, re-establishing the weight of classic figures and corporations with newfound narrative depth.

The masterstroke of this convergence fully materialized with the release of Resident Evil: Requiem in early 2026. The franchise's most recent title served as the primary proving ground for this clash of eras.

The game resurrected the foundational ghosts of the series by sending veteran Leon S. Kennedy and new protagonist, FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft, back into the ruins of Raccoon City—including a chilling return to the iconic R.P.D. station. The plot delivered direct references to the all-powerful Umbrella Corporation and its enigmatic founder, Oswell E. Spencer, seamlessly bridging the classic legacy with entirely new survival threats.

This strategic move confirmed that the recent remakes were never just an exercise in nostalgia; they were crucial pieces of a much larger puzzle. By reintroducing players to the horrors of Raccoon City and Umbrella in the remakes, Capcom laid the perfect groundwork for those same threats to haunt the modern story arc, culminating in the events and revelations players experienced in the highly acclaimed Requiem.

Now, fans must wait to see how classic veterans and the new generation of survivors will continue to collide in this ambitious narrative roadmap.

According to Owen Shepherd, Rockstar's Vice President of Art for Lighting and Rendering, the team has completely rebuilt the weather system to make it much more localized and persistent, achieving a scale never before seen in the franchise.

Check out the main highlights of the newly confirmed weather and storm mechanics:

Hurricanes and Tropical Storms

The game will feature the extreme weather phenomena that are a trademark of Florida. During these powerful storms, players will face torrential rain, heavy winds, thunder, and lightning, with water realistically running off roofs and utility poles along the streets.

Localized and Dynamic Weather

The new system features fully dynamic volumetric clouds, allowing you to actually see storms moving across the map. It will be perfectly possible to stand in a dry, sunny area while watching heavy rain fall in the distance in another region of Leonida.

New Wind System

The wind will affect the open world in incredibly immersive ways. The game will feature different patterns of air currents, such as sea breezes after sunset and thermal updrafts. In practice, wind gusts will blow hair and debris around, create ripples on the water's surface, and bend the tall grass in the swamps.

Persistent Visual Impact

Rain will leave real marks on the environment even after the storm has passed. Lasting puddles will remain on the roads indicating the exact path of the storm, and rainbows can form depending on the precise sunlight and humidity conditions.

This impressive attention to detail reinforces Rockstar's goal of creating a much more reactive open world. Nature in Leonida won't just serve as a static backdrop, but rather as an active, unpredictable, and shifting force during Jason and Lucia's daily routines and explorations.

According to the new details, players will share the open world with over 170 different species of animals, breathing life into the skies, swamps, forests, and oceans of Vice City and its surrounding counties.

Here is the breakdown of the wildlife populations confirmed so far:

60+ types of birds

30+ land mammals

A diverse array of fish and reptiles

A Next-Generation Ocean Ecosystem

The waters of Leonida won't just be for high-speed jet ski races. Michael Kane, Animation Director for GTA 6 at Rockstar Games, confirmed that the game’s marine life has received a massive overhaul.

Players will encounter various species of sharks, whales, rays, sea turtles, and jellyfish. Kane emphasized that each of these marine animals is built with entirely distinct movement behaviors, ensuring the ocean feels as dynamic and unpredictable as the city streets.

Groundbreaking Visuals and Fur Physics

Rockstar is pushing their proprietary engine to its absolute limits for the game's fauna. The article confirms that animals will feature advanced lighting interactions, including iridescence, bioluminescence, and translucency—perfect for the neon-lit waters or the murky depths of the swamps.

Furthermore, GTA 6 introduces an entirely new hair and fur simulation system. Animal pelts are now fully simulated and will dynamically react to the environment. Expect to see fur react realistically to water, get caked in mud and dirt, and even experience matting and clumping over time.

The Return of the Compendium & Legendary Animals

For fans who spent hundreds of hours tracking and studying wildlife in Red Dead Redemption 2, there is incredible news. The GTA 6 animal roster size sits right alongside RDR2's base count of 178 species.

Hunting and cataloging are making a triumphant return. Players will be able to analyze and scan animals in the wild to register them into an official in-game Compendium. Furthermore, the report confirms that wildlife will be divided into different rarity tiers:

Discoverable

Rare

Legendary

Whether you are tracking a Legendary Panther through the Leonida brush, visiting the newly confirmed in-game Zoos, or just trying to avoid gators in the swamplands, it's clear that the wildlife in GTA 6 is going to be a game within the game.

The newly confirmed list of minigames and side activities proves Rockstar Games is laser-focused on delivering their most immersive and lived-in open world to date.

Here is the full breakdown of every side activity confirmed so far:

Base jumping: Classic skydiving returns, offering the perfect way to take advantage of Vice City's towering skyline.

Billiards: Leonida’s dive bars will feature pool tables where you can kick back, relax, or hustle locals for cash.

Gyms: The beloved workout system is back, heavily hinting that physical character customization—a fan-favorite feature from GTA: San Andreas—is making a return.

Kayaking: A stealthier, low-key way to navigate the dense, winding swamps and rivers outside the city limits.

Mini Golf: The ultimate downtime distraction between intense story missions.

Scuba diving: Leonida’s ocean floor promises to be rich in detail, opening the door for shipwreck exploration and deep-sea scavenging.

Street and off-road racing: The core DNA of the franchise lives on with underground sprint races on the asphalt and mud-kicking rallies in the backcountry.

Zoos: A highly unexpected first for the series. While we don't know the full extent of our interaction with the animals yet, it adds an entirely new layer of life to the map.

Air boating: The quintessential Florida-inspired vehicle, perfect for tearing across gator-infested swamplands like the Everglades.

Jet skiing: High-speed coastal racing and exploration across Vice City's pristine beaches.

This diverse lineup shows the new game will lean heavily into the local culture of the state, perfectly blending chaotic urban life with wild, untamed nature. The specific additions of airboats, zoos, and kayaking suggest that Leonida's wildlife and waterways will play a massive role in the player's day-to-day experience.

Rockstar Games revealed on Thursday, September 24, 2026 the first collector's product for Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection. Sold through the Rockstar Store for $399.99 (also listed at £349.99, €399.99 and CA$559.99), the box is limited to one per customer.

The collection is built around the Leonida Keys and Vice City, the two regions where Jason and Lucia's story takes place, and every item is officially licensed merchandise themed after the game's fictional version of Florida.

Check out everything inside the box:

Macca the gator figure

A collectible statue of the gator mascot seen across Leonida, with a twist-open base.

Oakley® Frogskins™ sunglasses

A themed pair of the classic Oakley frames, matching the beach look of the Keys.

New Era® 9FORTY cap

An adjustable cap with Leonida branding.

Leonida Keys crossbody bag

A shoulder bag inspired by the island chain where Jason starts the game.

Small collectibles

A Macca the gator magnetic mirror, a Chunkee the Manatee shot glass, a collectible Vice City swizzle spoon and a razor-blade keychain.

Pins, stickers and poster

A set of nine Leonida Keys enamel pins in a metal tin, a sticker pack and a double-sided souvenir poster with the map of Leonida.

Important: the game is NOT included. The Goodtime State is a merchandise box only, with no download code. GTA VI itself is sold separately and launches on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, so a fan who wants both the box and the standard edition of the game should budget close to $480.

Fan reaction was mixed, mostly because of the price and the missing game. For collectors, though, it is the most complete set of official Leonida merchandise Rockstar has released so far, and the map poster is one of the first physical looks at the state's full layout.

Ever since the 192GB archive of old Rockstar material surfaced online on September 18, 2026, fans have been combing through early GTA 6 map files dated to around 2014–2015. Among the theories spreading in the community, one stands out: renders of an island that some players believe was inspired by Puerto Rico, which could point to a playable area outside the state of Leonida.

The idea is not new for the series. In GTA 5, the snowy town of North Yankton appeared only in specific story missions, far from Los Santos. Fans suggest a Caribbean island could play a similar role in GTA 6, especially because of Lucia's Latin roots.

Here is what we know, and what we don't:

What is confirmed

Rockstar has only officially presented the state of Leonida, with six regions: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga.

What the leak shows

Outlets that analysed the archive describe an early Leonida prototype, with labels such as "Alligator Farm", "Coast Guard" and "Disused Theme Park", plus early Vice City assets.

What remains unverified

None of the outlets we checked mention a Puerto Rico-style island. The theory comes from fans, and the renders circulating online have not been authenticated.

Why caution matters

The files are about a decade old. Even the coverage of the leak stresses that a prototype of that age cannot confirm the final map's roads, borders or playable locations.

That is why this story carries our Rumor badge. An extra island, accessed only during a mission, would be a fun surprise and fits Rockstar's history, but there is no official sign of it. Rockstar has not commented on the leak.

GTA VI launches November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Until then, everything confirmed about the state is in our guide: the GTA 6 map and Leonida's regions.

About 192GB of internal Rockstar Games data surfaced online on September 18, 2026, two months before the launch of GTA 6. The files are not new: they are linked to the security breach Rockstar suffered in 2022, part of which had already leaked as GTA 5 source code in December 2023. The full archive circulated privately for years and has only now been shared widely.

Despite the timing, most of the material is about GTA 5, not GTA 6. Dataminers in the community, such as TJGM, have been sharing their findings, though many of them have not been independently verified.

Check out the main highlights reported so far:

Cancelled Liberty City expansion for GTA 5

Files for a single-player DLC that would have brought Liberty City to GTA 5, with a map reportedly larger than the version seen in GTA 4.

"Agent Trevor" DLC

A cancelled secret-agent expansion starring Trevor, with dozens of missions and assets that include spaceship interiors and space suits.

Cut endings and missions

An alternate, more brutal death for Trevor in one of GTA 5's endings, and a cut mission pairing Franklin with Brucie, the GTA 4 character.

Beta content

Dialogue and vehicles from GTA 5's development that never made it into the final game.

Early GTA 6 assets

Very early, low-detail models and map blockouts of Vice City and Leonida, dated to around 2014–2015 and reportedly built with GTA 5's tools.

That last point is what drew the most attention, but it says little about the game coming in November. As the coverage of the leak stresses, blockouts this old do not represent the final map, which has been rebuilt many times since.

Following our editorial policy, we report that the leak happened, but we do not show or link to the leaked material. Rockstar has not commented on this archive. GTA VI launches November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

American actor Stephen Root has confirmed that he plays Brian Heder in Grand Theft Auto VI, making him the first member of the cast to publicly go on record about a role in the game. Root spoke to the Associated Press at the BAFTA TV Tea Party in mid-September 2026.

Asked about GTA 6, he did not dodge the question: "You're gonna see me in there." He also admitted that keeping the secret had become almost impossible, because fans had already recognized him: "There were too many people that knew me from King of the Hill and my voice."

Check out what we know about the actor and his character:

Who is Brian Heder

According to Rockstar's official profile, Brian is an old-school drug runner in the Leonida Keys who lets Jason live in one of his properties in exchange for help with his business. In other words, he is one of the first people players will meet, since the story begins in the Keys.

Who is Stephen Root

A veteran character actor known as Milton in Office Space, Monroe Fuches in Barry, and the voices of Bill Dauterive and Buck Strickland in the animated series King of the Hill.

How fans found out

Players began linking the voice to Root as soon as Brian was introduced in the second trailer, in May 2025. The Extended Look shown in August 2026 gave him more screen time and turned the guess into near-certainty.

What is still a secret

Rockstar has not officially announced the cast, and the actors behind Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos remain unconfirmed.

Root's comments suggest the studio is relaxing its famously tight secrecy as launch approaches. More cast reveals, official or not, are likely in the coming weeks.

With 65 days to go until launch, Rockstar keeps revealing how life in Leonida will work between missions. In a long interview with the Japanese magazine Famitsu, translated into English by GTAVice, Rob Nelson, head of development and co-studio head at Rockstar North, described the small systems that make Jason and Lucia's routine feel lived-in.

The common thread is realism: objects exist physically in the world, the couple's home behaves like a real home, and the open world respects the needs of the story.

Check out the main highlights of the new details:

A phone you actually hold

The cell phone is now a physical object in Jason and Lucia's hands instead of a flat 2D overlay, as it was in GTA V. Rockstar mentioned apps for video, fitness tracking, banking, social media and "Scooter Bros", a vehicle delivery service.

Photos, but no posting

Jason and Lucia can send photos to each other. Because both are on the run, though, they cannot upload anything to social media; they can only follow other accounts.

A home that feels shared

The hideout is treated as a place where two people live. In the demo shown to Famitsu, Jason pulls back the covers and climbs into bed next to a sleeping Lucia. You also can't toss objects anywhere: Nelson explained that a mug has to be carried to a place where it can properly be put down.

Protected story locations

As in Red Dead Redemption 2, some places that matter to the story are off-limits for crime. Nelson's example: you can't steal cars outside the strip club owned by Jason's friend Dre'Quan, so players can't accidentally ruin a location the story still needs.

A body to look after

How you play changes Jason and Lucia's bodies. Training builds muscle, overeating can make them gain weight, and food gives temporary boosts to their health and stamina meters.

Together, these details point to a slower, more grounded GTA, closer to the daily rhythm of Red Dead Redemption 2 than to the arcade feel of earlier games.

Vice City is about to take over the real Miami Beach. On September 10, 2026, the Miami Beach City Commission approved, by a 4–3 vote, a marketing deal that will bring Grand Theft Auto VI branding to the city's beaches ahead of the game's launch.

The approval came after a heated debate. Commissioner David Suarez opposed the deal, showed footage from the game during the session and said he did not want the city's brand associated with it. Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz had also criticized the partnership, pointing to the series' focus on crime. Supporters, like Commissioner Monica Matteo-Salinas, argued that enjoying fiction is not the same as endorsing crime, and stressed the financial benefit for the city.

Check out the main details of the campaign:

Where the ads will appear

Only on private beach equipment, the chairs and umbrellas run by the concessionaire Boucher Brothers. No Rockstar branding will go on city property such as lifeguard stands.

What they will show

The ads are limited to the Roman numeral "VI" and the name "Vice City", described as discreet placements.

When

From October 15 to December 31, 2026, covering the November 19 launch and the holiday season.

How much

Reports put the value of the deal in the millions of dollars, with Beebom citing about $3 million.

The campaign is not limited to the beach. On September 14, a photo shared on Reddit showed large advertising panels laid out behind the Kaseya Center, the Miami Heat's arena in downtown Miami, reportedly meant to spell "Welcome to VI" once installed.

Miami is the real-world inspiration for Vice City, and Rockstar seems ready to make the most of it. If you are in Florida this fall, expect to see the city and the game blend together.

In an interview with the Japanese magazine Famitsu, Rob Nelson, head of development and co-studio head at Rockstar North, gave one of the most detailed explanations yet of how Grand Theft Auto VI plays. He covered how Jason and Lucia's relationship works, the return of gyms and a police system rebuilt from scratch. Here are the highlights, organized by topic.

Jason and Lucia: characters and relationship

Rockstar first considered four playable characters, but settled on two. According to Nelson, the team learned with Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2 that fewer protagonists means more screen time for each one and a stronger emotional bond with the player.

Partners in crime or a couple: Players choose how to treat the relationship. Skipping the romance closes off some interactions, such as holding hands or kissing, but the main story can be completed either way.

Switching characters: You can switch freely between Jason and Lucia in the open world, except at specific story moments. At the very start of the game, control is locked to Jason.

Hideouts that change: As with the camp in RDR2, the story is told in chapters, and the couple's hideout changes as it progresses.

Gyms are back

Body stats: The game tracks each character's health, stamina and fitness. Depending on your habits, they can gain muscle or body fat.

Workouts: Gym minigames return, as in GTA San Andreas. Leveling up takes consistency: Rockstar described a routine of three exercises a day for three days in a row.

Food: Eating gives temporary boosts to health and stamina on top of the base values you raise by training.

A smarter wanted system

Witnesses: As in RDR2, a crime only reaches the police if someone sees it and reports it.

Cash vs. bank: Money now works like GTA Online. Cash you carry is lost if you die or get arrested; money deposited in the bank is safe.

Criminal profile: The game evaluates how you act. Commit many offenses in a row and you can be pushed into a chaotic state in which you're no longer treated as an ordinary citizen.

No more invisible rifles: Long guns are now visible on your character and must be stored at Ammu-Nation or in a car trunk to stay discreet.

Taken together, the interview shows a GTA built around consequences: what you eat, where you keep your money and who sees you all matter.

Pre-orders for the Grand Theft Auto VI limited-edition DualSense controllers opened on September 10, 2026, at 7:00 a.m. PT (10:00 a.m. ET) in the United States and at 10:00 a.m. local time in the UK and Europe. Sony first revealed the two designs during the PlayStation State of Play on September 3.

Each controller costs $84.99 (¥12,480 in Japan) and ships on November 19, 2026, the same day the game launches on PlayStation 5.

Check out the main details of each version:

White Limited Edition

Pastel tones inspired by "Vice City at daybreak", with a sun-bleached beach look. It is sold on PlayStation Direct and at participating retailers worldwide.

Black Limited Edition

A black body with shimmering neon-purple gradients that evoke Vice City at night. In the US, the UK and several European countries, including Spain, France, Germany and Italy, it is exclusive to PlayStation Direct.

Shared details

Both feature palm tree shapes on the grips, the GTA VI logo on the touchpad, purple face buttons and D-pad, and the Rockstar logo on the back.

Same hardware

Inside, they are standard DualSense controllers. There are no performance upgrades and nothing is unlocked in the game; the price reflects the cosmetic design only.

Themed controllers tend to sell out quickly, and the black version, available only on Sony's store in many countries, is the one most likely to disappear first. If you want one for launch day, pre-ordering is the safest bet; you can find the US listing for the black edition on PlayStation Direct, linked in the sources below.

The GTA 6 Extended Look, shown on Netflix in August 2026, made one thing clear: Rockstar has completely redesigned the game's HUD, and the change hits hardest where veterans feel it most — escaping the police.

For years, the trick in Grand Theft Auto was simple: watch the minimap, avoid the red dots and their vision cones, and wait for the stars to fade. In GTA 6, that safety net is gone.

Check out the main changes to the wanted system's HUD:

No more "all-seeing" minimap

The classic red dots showing each officer's exact position and line of sight have disappeared. Instead, a flashing red-and-blue zone marks the general area where the police are searching for you. Rockstar calls this state Heat.

Hanger icon — your clothes

Shows that the police know what you are wearing. Changing outfits becomes a real way to throw them off.

Face icon — your identity

Shows whether a witness or a security camera has identified you, or whether a mask kept your face hidden.

Vehicle icon — your getaway car

Lets you know if the cops or cameras have identified the car you are using.

Partner icon — your accomplice

Shows whether the police know you had someone with you during the crime, which matters in a game built around Jason and Lucia working as a pair.

In practice, the HUD now tells you what the police know, not where they are. To find officers, you have to look around, use cover and blend into traffic. Rockstar's Rob Nelson later added in an interview with Famitsu that crimes depend on witnesses and that the scale goes up to six stars again.

It is a big shift for a series that made fleeing the cops almost routine. Expect getaways to take more planning: masks, a change of clothes and a backup car may be as important as a fast engine.

Grand Theft Auto VI isn't out yet, but it is already moving the hardware market. Since the Extended Look premiered on Netflix in late August 2026, demand for consoles has spiked, and the PS5 Pro has become the hardest machine to find in the United States.

By mid-September, the PS5 Pro was listed as out of stock at Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target and PlayStation Direct, with GameStop offering only limited pre-owned units in some locations.

Check out the main numbers behind the "GTA 6 effect":

Official price vs. resale

The PS5 Pro officially costs $899, after Sony raised it from the original $699 in March 2026, citing pressures in the global economy, including higher memory costs. Third-party sellers took advantage of the shortage, with listings above $1,300 on Amazon and one Walmart marketplace listing asking $1,469, roughly 60% above the official price.

Sales spike in the UK

According to NielsenIQ data reported by The Game Business, PlayStation 5 sales in the UK rose about 33% and Xbox Series X|S sales about 34% in the week after the Extended Look.

Not just PlayStation

Xbox consoles saw the same boost, which makes sense: GTA 6 launches only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no PC version announced.

Analysts urge caution, though. Newzoo's Ronan Patrick noted that a short-term spike does not guarantee lasting growth in console ownership, especially with hardware prices this high.

Our advice: if you still need a console for launch day, buy from official retailers and avoid inflated marketplace listings. Restocks tend to arrive in waves as November approaches.
