GTA VI enters the final phase of development, focusing on bug fixes and crunch reduction.

Rockstar Games appears to be entering the final stages of development on Grand Theft Auto VI. During a visit to the studio in late September, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier reported on the team's progress, offering a glimpse into how the highly anticipated game is taking shape ahead of its planned November 19 release.
One of the clearest signs of progress can be seen on monitors throughout the studio. They display a color-coded overview of the game's bugs, with red blocks representing unresolved issues and green ones indicating problems that have been fixed. According to the report, the balance has been shifting in the right direction, suggesting that developers are resolving issues faster than new ones are being identified.
That doesn't mean development is entirely finished. Co-director Phil Hooker noted that a project of this scale continues to evolve even during its final months. Small adjustments and refinements are still being made as the team works to ensure the game is ready for release.
The reported progress is only part of the story. Rockstar has also been trying to move away from the demanding work culture associated with some of its earlier productions. During the development of Red Dead Redemption 2, reports of weeks exceeding 60 working hours drew attention to the industry's reliance on so-called crunch — periods of intense overtime before a game's release.
The current approach appears to be different. Employees are required to work from the office five days a week, a policy reportedly intended in part to strengthen security and reduce the risk of leaks. Even with that requirement, the studio is seeking to manage workloads without returning to the excessive hours that have drawn criticism in the past.
For fans, the steady progress on bug fixes is encouraging, although it doesn't guarantee that the release schedule will remain unchanged. Rockstar is still targeting November 19 for GTA VI, and the coming weeks will be crucial as the team works through the remaining issues and prepares the game for launch.
