GTA 6 Confirmed Side Activities: From Kayaking to Zoo Visits!

GTA 6 Confirmed Side Activities: From Kayaking to Zoo Visits!

The newly confirmed list of minigames and side activities proves Rockstar Games is laser-focused on delivering their most immersive and lived-in open world to date.

Here is the full breakdown of every side activity confirmed so far:

  • Base jumping: Classic skydiving returns, offering the perfect way to take advantage of Vice City's towering skyline.

  • Billiards: Leonida’s dive bars will feature pool tables where you can kick back, relax, or hustle locals for cash.

  • Gyms: The beloved workout system is back, heavily hinting that physical character customization—a fan-favorite feature from GTA: San Andreas—is making a return.

  • Kayaking: A stealthier, low-key way to navigate the dense, winding swamps and rivers outside the city limits.

  • Mini Golf: The ultimate downtime distraction between intense story missions.

  • Scuba diving: Leonida’s ocean floor promises to be rich in detail, opening the door for shipwreck exploration and deep-sea scavenging.

  • Street and off-road racing: The core DNA of the franchise lives on with underground sprint races on the asphalt and mud-kicking rallies in the backcountry.

  • Zoos: A highly unexpected first for the series. While we don't know the full extent of our interaction with the animals yet, it adds an entirely new layer of life to the map.

  • Air boating: The quintessential Florida-inspired vehicle, perfect for tearing across gator-infested swamplands like the Everglades.

  • Jet skiing: High-speed coastal racing and exploration across Vice City's pristine beaches.

This diverse lineup shows the new game will lean heavily into the local culture of the state, perfectly blending chaotic urban life with wild, untamed nature. The specific additions of airboats, zoos, and kayaking suggest that Leonida's wildlife and waterways will play a massive role in the player's day-to-day experience.

Context

This list comes from Game Informer's Grand Theft Auto VI cover story, published on September 29, 2026. The magazine named ten activities: base jumping, billiards, gyms, kayaking, mini golf, scuba diving, street and off-road racing, zoos, airboating and jet skiing. It gave little detail on how any of them work. The same coverage said Leonida holds more than 170 animal species, from over 60 bird types and 30-plus land mammals to manatees, sharks and whales, with some labelled Rare, Discoverable or Legendary.

The list builds on the Netflix Extended Look shown in late August and on Rob Nelson's interviews, in which he said workouts build visible muscle and food affects Jason and Lucia's weight. GTA VI launches on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

What we know

  • Game Informer's September 29 cover story names ten side activities, including kayaking, scuba diving, mini golf, airboating and zoo visits.
  • Leonida has more than 170 animal species, including over 60 bird types and more than 30 land mammals.
  • Rockstar's Michael Kane said the studio wanted to include Florida's animal ecosystem faithfully across Leonida's different biomes.
  • Rob Nelson has said working out builds visible muscle and food affects weight, so gyms are tied to a body system.
  • Leonida is split into six regions: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga.

What we don't know yet

  • Rockstar has not explained what players can actually do at a zoo beyond visiting it.
  • It is unclear whether races, dives or kayak trips come with rewards, missions or leaderboards.
  • The list is not complete: Insider Gaming stressed that these are only some of the activities, and backyard wrestling seen in earlier footage is not on it.
  • Shipwrecks or other underwater points of interest have not been confirmed.

VICEVERSA's take

The familiar entries are the least interesting part of this list. Street racing, jet skis and base jumping have been part of GTA for years. What stands out is how much of the rest involves water and wildlife: kayaks, airboats, scuba gear, zoos. Read alongside the 170-plus species, that suggests Rockstar wants Grassrivers and the Keys to be places where players spend time, not just scenery between story missions.

A list of names is not a design, though. Game Informer offered almost no detail on how these activities play, and descriptions circulating online, from shipwreck diving to hustling pool players, are guesses. San Andreas showed back in 2004 that side content matters most when it feeds back into the character, and the gym is the one item here with a confirmed link to Jason and Lucia's bodies. Before launch, the thing to watch is whether zoos and diving get their own progression or exist mainly as places to look at animals.
