GTA 6 Limited-Edition DualSense Controllers Open for Pre-Order at $84.99

Pre-orders for the Grand Theft Auto VI limited-edition DualSense controllers opened on September 10, 2026, at 7:00 a.m. PT (10:00 a.m. ET) in the United States and at 10:00 a.m. local time in the UK and Europe. Sony first revealed the two designs during the PlayStation State of Play on September 3.
Each controller costs $84.99 (¥12,480 in Japan) and ships on November 19, 2026, the same day the game launches on PlayStation 5.
Check out the main details of each version:
-
White Limited Edition
Pastel tones inspired by "Vice City at daybreak", with a sun-bleached beach look. It is sold on PlayStation Direct and at participating retailers worldwide.
-
Black Limited Edition
A black body with shimmering neon-purple gradients that evoke Vice City at night. In the US, the UK and several European countries, including Spain, France, Germany and Italy, it is exclusive to PlayStation Direct.
-
Shared details
Both feature palm tree shapes on the grips, the GTA VI logo on the touchpad, purple face buttons and D-pad, and the Rockstar logo on the back.
-
Same hardware
Inside, they are standard DualSense controllers. There are no performance upgrades and nothing is unlocked in the game; the price reflects the cosmetic design only.
Themed controllers tend to sell out quickly, and the black version, available only on Sony's store in many countries, is the one most likely to disappear first. If you want one for launch day, pre-ordering is the safest bet; you can find the US listing for the black edition on PlayStation Direct, linked in the sources below.

Context
Sony revealed the two controllers at its September 3 State of Play, with GTA VI due on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Custom DualSense pads for big third-party games are not new, but they are usually a single design; GTA VI gets two, one for Vice City by day and one for its nightlife.
Price is part of the story. At $84.99, each pad costs $15 more than a standard DualSense, which lists at $69.99, for no change in hardware. The controllers ship on November 19, the same day as the game, and Sony sold them in limited quantities from the start.
What we know
- Pre-orders opened September 10 at 7:00 a.m. PT in the US and 10:00 a.m. local time in the UK and several European countries.
- Both editions cost $84.99, £74.99, €84.99 or ¥12,480, and ship on November 19.
- PlayStation Direct struggled on launch morning, with hour-long queues and checkout errors reported by Kotaku.
- In the US, Best Buy, Walmart and GameStop sold only the white edition, while the black edition stayed on Sony's own store.
- Sony limited purchases to one per customer, and eBay listings asking $130 to $195 appeared the same day.
What we don't know yet
- Sony has not said how many units were made or whether more stock will be released before launch.
- Whether pre-ordered controllers will arrive on November 19 or a day or two earlier is not confirmed.
- Microsoft has not announced a GTA VI-themed Xbox controller.
VICEVERSA's take
Our original piece urged readers to hurry, and that advice aged within hours: the white edition sold out at Best Buy and several UK stores on the first day, while PlayStation Direct buckled under hour-long queues. That says less about the controllers than about the mood around GTA VI. A purely cosmetic accessory, with the same internals as a standard DualSense, sold like a limited sneaker drop, and resellers moved in before a single unit had shipped.
If you missed out, paying $150 or more on eBay for an $85 controller is hard to justify. The pad does nothing a regular DualSense cannot, and resale prices for preorders depend on sellers actually receiving stock. The more useful signal is what this demand means for November 19. If a controller can overwhelm PlayStation Direct, it is reasonable to expect similar pressure on console stock as launch gets closer, so anyone who still needs hardware should plan earlier rather than later.
