The Sound of Leonida: Rockstar reveals first radio stations, star DJs and original GTA 6 album.

The First 6 Confirmed Radio Stations

Rockstar has released previews of six radio stations, blending the return of Vice City classics with new additions focused on the cultural diversity of the state of Leonida. The hosts (DJs) are voiced by massive global music stars:

  • Cocoteo FM: The home of modern Latin music in Leonida (bachata, merengue, dembow, and reggaeton). Hosted by El Martillo (voiced by superstar Bad Bunny) and La Gata (voiced by RaiNao). The confirmed setlist already features "EoO" (Bad Bunny) and "Canalla" (Romeo Santos & El Chaval de la Bachata).

  • Back Country Radio: Focused on "renegade" country, ideal for exploring the Grassrivers swamps. Hosted by MW (voiced by Morgan Wallen), Delta Dawne (voiced by Lana Del Rey), and swamp meteorologist Mud Dog Mike. Confirmed tracks include classics like "Don't Come Home A-Drinkin'" (Loretta Lynn) and "The Conversation" (Hank Williams, Jr. & Waylon Jennings).

  • AfroBank FM: Focused on African music excellence, from amapiano to 20th-century classics. Hosted by the duo Burna (voiced by Burna Boy) and Palmsy (voiced by Palms Trax). Confirmed songs include "Joha" (Asake) and "Shay'sana" (DJ Lag & Robot Boii ft. Kamo Mphela).

  • The Chamber 106.6: Leonida's heavy metal radio. Hosted by two legends from the band Slayer: DJ Kerry (Kerry King) and DJ Tom (Tom Araya). Perfect for speeding down the highway to the sound of "I" (Black Sabbath), "I'm Broken" (Pantera), and "Raining Blood" (Slayer).

  • Flash FM: The classic pop institution from GTA: Vice City is back. Hosted by Swedish singer Robyn and model Alex Consani. The station will play hits like "Good Ones" (Charli XCX), "Electric Feel" (MGMT), and "Midnight Sun" (Zara Larsson & PinkPantheress).

  • Dirty South Classics: The pure essence of Southern hospitality, focused on regional rap and classic hip-hop. Hosted by rappers Trick Daddy and Trina. Tracks like "Like A Pimp" (David Banner ft. Lil' Flip) and "Born N Raised" (DJ Khaled ft. Trick Daddy, Rick Ross & Pitbull) are already guaranteed.

Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album

In addition to licensed music, Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, a collaborative project with Atlantic Records. The album will feature 34 original tracks created exclusively for the game, aiming to capture the vibrant energy of Vice City.

The company has already released six singles from this project for the public to stream:

  • "That's It" – Yung Lean (feat. Future & Metro Boomin)

  • "RHYNO" – Travis Scott (produced by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo of Daft Punk)

  • "Sexy Magic" – CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, PinkPantheress, Fred again.. & Etienne de Crécy

  • "Last Thing You Need" – Morgan Wallen

  • "Macacoa 2000" – Rauw Alejandro

  • "Bright Lights, Big City" – Keith Richards

The album will also feature tracks by artists like Cardi B ("Don't Chart") and Fuerza Regida ("Suzuki").

Innovation: Earbuds and On-Foot Podcasts

One of the most highly praised mechanical additions revealed in this update is how we consume audio in the game. In GTA 6, players won't need to be inside a car to enjoy the soundtrack. Rockstar confirmed that Lucia and Jason will be able to use earbuds connected to their smartphones to listen to radio stations and the game's various new podcasts while exploring the world on foot.

Context

Rockstar revealed the first six GTA 6 radio stations on October 8, three weeks after it announced Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album with Atlantic Records on September 17. Radio has long been one of the series' signatures, and the lineup mixes a returning name with new stations built around Leonida: Flash FM comes back from GTA Vice City and Vice City Stories, while Cocoteo FM, AfroBank FM and Dirty South Classics cover Latin, African and Southern rap scenes.

The update also changes how music fits into play. Players can listen through earbuds connected to the in-game smartphone, not only from a car stereo, and the game adds on-demand podcasts, which DJ Mag describes as a first for the series.

What we know

  • The six stations are Cocoteo FM, Back Country Radio, AfroBank FM, The Chamber 106.6, Flash FM and Dirty South Classics.
  • Hosts include Bad Bunny and RaiNao, Morgan Wallen and Lana Del Rey, Burna Boy and Palms Trax, Slayer's Kerry King and Tom Araya, Robyn and Alex Consani, and Trick Daddy and Trina.
  • Lana Del Rey's husband, Jeremy Dufrene, appears on Back Country Radio as Mud Dog Mike.
  • The Album, made with Atlantic Records, has 34 original tracks and releases alongside the game on November 19, with CD and vinyl editions.

What we don't know yet

  • Whether these six are the complete lineup; Rockstar has not said how many stations the final game will have.
  • Which podcasts are included and who hosts them.
  • How the 34 album tracks will be spread across the in-game stations.

VICEVERSA's take

Rockstar is using celebrity hosts the way it once used licensed hits: to signal where the game sits culturally. Putting Bad Bunny on a Latin station and Burna Boy on an African music station is a deliberate choice for a Florida-inspired state where Spanish-language and diaspora music are part of everyday life. Done well, that should make the radio feel rooted in Leonida instead of sounding like a generic playlist.

The earbuds feature may matter more than any single name. Radio in GTA has traditionally been something you heard behind the wheel; carrying stations and podcasts on foot means the soundtrack follows players into the slower parts of the map. Execution is the open question. Constant audio can turn into noise if it cannot be muted easily or ducked under dialogue, and Rockstar has not shown how the phone controls work. The Album, out on launch day, will also show whether 34 commissioned songs can sit comfortably next to a deep licensed catalog.
